Country Working Groups

Country working groups: a model for action

What is a country working group?

The CLP Country Working Groups are collaborative forums that enable the CLP to anchor our activities on the ground. The Working Groups focus on:

  • Fostering an exchange of CLP members’ experiences in addressing child labour in supply chains in selected countries and local areas.
  • Sharing practical tools and technical expertise to assist members in their child labour prevention efforts.
  • Creating a coordinated network of local actors committed to eliminating child labour.

Working Groups meet on a quarterly basis and are managed by the ILO as the CLP Secretariat. They are guided by the CLP co-chairs, namely IOE and ITUC, facilitating dialogue and coordination with their constituents (employers’ and workers’ organizations) in the country. Additionally, in order to encourage an environment of mutual learning and sharing, all meetings are governed by the Chatham House Rule.

Where we work

The Country Working Groups are currently active in:

  • Côte d’Ivoire
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
  • India
  • Uganda

The CLP also conducts activities in Honduras, Madagascar, Mexico and Viet Nam though existing ILO projects and with CLP members.

Benefits of participation

  • Enhanced due diligence: Improve your company and suppliers’ ability to identify and address child labour risks by contributing to and learning from due diligence programmes.
  • Strategic collaboration: Forge more effective synergies with the public sector, social partners and other private companies, leading to more sustainable solutions.
  • Shared learning: Benefit from a safe and open environment to share lessons learned and best practices with peers.
