Country Working Group India

The CLP’s India Country Working Group (CWG) is focused on preventing risks of child labour in supply chains in line with the India Decent Work Country Programme 2023–27 and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.

The CWG’s efforts are focused on the coffee, cotton, spices and sugarcane sectors in Karnataka and Telangana.

Our strategic pillars

The Country Working Group India focuses on several key areas to eliminate child labour and promote decent work:

  • Increasing awareness and understanding of fundamental principles and rights at work, in particular the elimination of child labour and hazardous child labour.
  • Improving access of migrant workers to public services and institutions to reduce socio-economic vulnerabilities that increase the risk of child labour.
  • Strengthening capacity of all relevant supply chain actors to develop and adopt fair recruitment and employment practices to address the root causes of child labour among migrant workers and their children.
  • Improving business due diligence systems in targeted areas to address the root causes of child labour.

The CLP activities in India are supported by its members and partners, including the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, The Coca-Cola Company and Unilever.
